The Madison-Champaign Educational Service Center is seeking an Interpreter to provide interpretive services that support communication between students with hearing and/or communication disabilities and other members of the educational team

 

Position Summary

 

The Interpreter serves as an important member of the educational team, helping ensure students have meaningful access to instruction and participation in the school environment. This position works collaboratively with classroom teachers, teachers of the deaf, and other educational team members to provide communication services based on the individual needs of assigned students.

ESC employees providing on-site contractual services are expected to follow the calendars and hours of operation of the assigned member school district.

 

Essential Responsibilities

 

• Provide interpretive services for students with hearing and/or communication disabilities.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and teachers of the deaf to support student success.
• Use communication methods that best meet the needs of assigned students
• Support students in accessing instruction and participating in an inclusive educational environment.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with students, staff, parents, and other members of the educational team.

Minimum Qualifications

 

• Maintain a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit employment in a public school setting.
• Ability to obtain the required licensure 
• Demonstrate proficiency in the target language
• Demonstrate high ethical standards, integrity, dependability, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Work effectively as part of a team and establish positive professional relationships.
