The Madison-Champaign Educational Service Center is seeking reliable and motivated individuals to serve as Substitute Custodians. Substitute Custodians provide coverage as needed and play an important role in maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming learning and work environments. This position may provide custodial support at various Madison-Champaign ESC locations and partner districts/programs based on staffing needs.

Responsibilities Include:

• Perform routine cleaning and custodial duties in classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and other areas as assigned.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize assigned spaces.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and properly dispose of waste.
• Clean and restock restrooms and other common areas.
• Assist with setting up and taking down meeting, event, and activity rooms as needed.
• Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or needed repairs to the appropriate supervisor.
• Follow established safety procedures and proper use of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous custodial or cleaning experience is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and follow directions.
• Dependable, flexible, and able to work at various locations as needed.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and moving equipment and supplies.
• Successful completion of required background checks and other employment requirements.

Position Details:

This is a substitute/as-needed position. Work schedules and locations may vary depending on staffing needs. Substitute Custodians may be called upon to cover regular custodial staff and may have opportunities to work at different locations throughout the ESC.
