Position Overview
The Madison-Champaign ESC is seeking a reliable, hardworking Custodian to support the cleanliness, safety, and overall maintenance of our facilities. This position plays an important role in maintaining a positive learning and working environment across all ESC buildings.

This role will primarily work 1st shift or a swing shift to provide coverage for other custodial staff as needed.

 

Work Schedule & Location

• Full-Time, 260-day contract
• Primarily 1st shift or swing shift based on coverage needs
• Assigned to work across multiple ESC buildings
• Supports day custodians at each facility

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine custodial duties, including cleaning, sanitizing, and waste removal
• Clean floors (sweep, mop, strip, wax), restrooms, classrooms, offices, and common areas
• Move and arrange furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed
• Support building operations such as deliveries, event setup/cleanup, and safety checks
• Monitor building conditions and report maintenance or safety concerns
• Assist with groundskeeping and seasonal tasks (e.g., snow removal) as needed
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper handling of chemicals and equipment

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including:
  • Moving furniture and equipment
  • Handling trash and supplies
  • Working on ladders or lifts
  • Standing, bending, and walking for extended periods

• Additional Requirements

  • Reliable transportation (required, as this role works across multiple locations)
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
